Lucid Dreaming

So for the last couple of weeks, i've been trying to lucid dream. it's an insanely cool concept/thing if you can do it. Let me just tell you,, it is EXTREMELY hard to do. Some things you're supposed to do just to get you started.
Reality checks - Throughout the day every hour or so, make sure what you're experiencing is real life. It sounds silly and pointless, but it's needed. Some examples of reality checks; clock checking. exactly what it sounds like, glance at a clock, look away for a few seconds and then look back. if the time is the same (or a minute after) you're probably not dreaming. for some reason, in dreams clocks don't seem to work the way they should, don't ask me why, but they don't. That is actually the way i experienced my first lucid dream, was by using this method. Another method of reality checking, is simply pinching your nose closed, keeping your mouth shut, and trying to breath. this one is a little more reliable in the sense that, you HAVE to breath when you're awake, but when you're in a dream, there's no need!
Next up for getting started on lucid dreaming is, keeping a dream journal. When you remember a dream in the morning, exciting as it is, DON'T hop out of bed and run to your journal, lay in bed with your eyes closed and think about the dream and every detail you can remember until you are sure you have it down. I've made the mistake of getting up right away then forgetting the dream ten seconds later. Again, i dunno why it happens that way, but it does.
